Our new P2 year group is currently looking for parent helpers and Year Head/s to run the group. To volunteer, or to enquire about your son / daughter playing this coming season, please contact info@watsoniansrugby.com.
P2 and P3 mini rugby is played under “touch” or “tag” rules i.e. no tackling. The focus for the younger age groups is teamwork and running and passing skills. However, the ethos of our whole mini section is to encourage all children of all abilities, so players are not streamed by ability. Year groups are divided into mixed ability squads with the objective of having evenly matched squads within each year group.
At this age it is not about winning; the core values of the minis section are:
Day/Time: Every Sunday from 11:30am to 1pm (we may finish a bit earlier, depending on weather, etc)
Where: EH10 5DB - Myreside - in front of the pavilion clubhouse. Please note, no dogs are allowed.
Parent/Carer attendance: A parent or carer must be present at the session.
Catering: Unfortunately, due to the fire in the pavilion earlier this year, there is currently no catering provision at Myreside.
What to wear: Any rugby/football/other sports kit is absolutely fine to begin with. A branded, reversible WFC Warriors playing jersey is included in the annual subscription price for NEW players. Your child can wear trainers to start (especially if the ground is hard), but if they enjoy it and want to continue with the Warriors, you will need to buy a pair of studded boots (strictly no blades for safety reasons). The only other necessary equipment for players is a mouth guard (gum shield) and a water bottle for every session.
Please find attached the WFC Child Protection Policy. The Child Protection Officer at the club is Corrinne Duffy. Should you have any queries or concerns please contact the club.
Watsonians have a club wide deal with leading kit supplier MACRON! Watsonian Warriors have their own section on the official club shop that can be found HERE!

If you are interested in helping as a volunteer coach, please contact the lead coach for your year group, or Ali Evans or Murray Rudkin who lead the Watsonians Warriors section (see contact details above). The more coaches the better, particularly in the younger age groups! Don’t worry if you haven’t played rugby before – all volunteers will get help from the more experienced members of the coaching team. Please note that all coaches/parent helpers must be PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) certified, so the sooner you register interest the better. The club’s Child Protection Officer, Corrinne Duffy, can assist with your PVG application (see contact details below).
