Reaction from head coach Fergus Pringle after the FOSROC Super6 win over Boroughmuir Bears kept the team unbeaten…

The conditions were tough with wind and rain swirling around Myreside, but head coach Fergus Pringle was pleased with the performance in the win over Boroughmuir Bears on Sunday.

The team won the FOSROC Super6 match 28-10 to make it four wins and 18 points from 20 to top the table heading into this coming weekend’ fixtures.

The result also gives them an aggregate lead heading into the second and final Allan McNish Memorial Trophy clash at Meggetland on Sunday.

“In general I was happy with the performance,” Pringle said.

“I thought we played well in the first half into the wind, the forwards were really good and the lineout functioned well in tough conditions.

“Our scrum also went well, we knew the Bears were a good scrummaging team and we worked hard on that in training and the plans paid off.

“We hadn’t started the best in our first three games and the guys knew that, but this was much better early on after good warm-up.

“The guys had an intensity in the first half and kept it going, you have to adapt to poor conditions quickly and we did that.

“It wasn’t the perfect performance out there, we tried to force the extra pass at some points and at times we let them off the hook.

“But look, Boroughmuir are a good side, they stay in the fight until the final whistle.

“They were good, we did some good things and it was pleasing to win, but we know it will be a tougher test and a different story at Meggetland this coming Sunday.

“We put pressure on ourselves as a group, we just have to get better during the preparations and in games week on week.”

Get along to Meggetland and watch the Super6 team play away to the Boroughmuir Bears on Sunday at 2pm or catch it live on Scottish Rugby TV
