The club are deeply saddened to announce the sudden and untimely death of Andrew Fyffe on Thursday 10th November 2022.

For many years, he was a great supporter of George Watson’s College and Watsonians, on and off the pitch.

Fyffie went to GWC for secondary school, leaving 6th year in 1985. He played for Watsonians in the late 80s and the 90s, usually in the back row. He toured with the club to Colorado in 1992.

He was a great reader of the game and a good handler of the ball.

His earlier rugby career included representing the school and Aberdeen University and he was also a keen golfer, having been a member of Mortonhall and, latterly, Gullane.

Fyffie lived in Edinburgh and worked for EY all of his career, including a spell working in Australia in the mid-90s.

He is survived by his wife Katrina, children Katie, Sarah and Mark (who currently plays for the school first XV), his parents, Wallace and Catherine and his brother Martin.

There will be a minute's silence prior to the 1st XV game v Stirling County at Myreside on Friday, 18th November. Kick-off is 7.30 pm.
