We've been delighted to hear about the success of Watsonians players over the last few months.
Congratulations to Adam McKenzie, Dan Kelly, Harry Jackaman and Harry Clark who all featured in the Scotland U20 squad that played Wales in a warm up match for the U20 World Cup today in June at Meggetland. All four players will join Edinburgh Rugby Academy in the summer. Dan and Harry were also selected for the Scotland U20 squad for the World U20 Championship which took place in Georgia in July.
Watsonian Isla Craigie a police officer with Police Scotland received a Pride of Scotland Emergency Services Award along with 3 colleagues who successfully talked down a man holding a baby girl at knifepoint. The four officers dealt with a terrifying situation with courage, composure and skilled hostage negotiations.
Freya Walker our Women's vice-captain was awarded the Glasgow Warriors Women's try of the Season at their recent awards. At the Edinburgh Rugby Awards, Nicole Marlow also won the Women's try of the season.
A number of our Women players were involved in the Six Nations matches at both senior and U21 levels including Hannah Ramsay, Talei Tawake, Charlotte Russell, Emily Love, Francesca McGhie and Molly Poolman. Molly Poolman who came off the bench in the Scotland v Italy game scored a magnificent try in the 75th minute, throwing a dummy to go over the line, getting her first Scotland try and a nomination for 'Try of the Round'.
Edinburgh Rugby announced in May a first professional contract for Jack Brown who started his playing career with the Warriors whilst in P3 at George Watson's College and who went on to play for the club in the Super Series.
