SUNDAY 24TH NOVEMBER WILL SEE GIRLS’ RUGBY TEAMS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY ARRIVE TO MYRESIDE, AS WATSONIAN WILDCATS HOST THE NEXT GIRLS EVOLUTION SERIES
With the Watsonian Wildcats girls’ rugby team growing at a rapid rate, Watsonians Wildcats are delighted to announce that they will be hosting the next Girls' Evolution Series festival, with the key support of Taylor's Snacks
This Sunday, 24th November, girls’ rugby teams from across Scotland will travel to Myreside to take part in the festival.
Watsonian Football Club are delighted to welcome Taylor’s Snacks, not only as a sponsor for the day but as the Wildcats’ primary sponsor. To celebrate this partnership, the Wildcats recently hosted very first jersey presentation evening, where all Wildcats were treated to personalised snack boxes courtesy of Taylor’s Snacks.
Speaking on the partnership, Gregor Smith, Head of Marketing at Taylor’s Snacks said:
“At Taylors Snacks we’re all about being bold, daring and packing a decent punch (of flavour!) We believe the Watsonian Wildcats echo a very similar mantra when it comes to culture and team spirit. We’re always keen to get right behind grassroots sporting efforts and coaching – especially when it’s promoting the women’s game, and encouraging youngsters to keep active. These are just some of the key reasons we’re proud sponsors of the Wildcats this season. Our brand ethos summed up is ‘uniqueness united’ – and we think the Wildcats are a shining example of this essence.”
The growth of the Wildcats and girls’ rugby is massively important for the ongoing development and success of the Watsonian Women’s team and the club as a whole. With players aged 9 to 14 joining from across Edinburgh, the Wildcats encourage anyone who wants to get involved in girls’ rugby to do so at Myreside
Watsonian Women have enjoyed copious amounts of success in recent years, notably winning the Sarah Beaney Cup at Murrayfield in 2023 and 2024, with the team acting as a huge inspiration for the next generation. This continues to show with Wildcats players acting as mascots, ball girls and supporters for the Women’s team at Murrayfield, Myreside and beyond.
Sunday’s Festival of Girls’ Rugby is set to be a massive day for the Wildcats and the club, creating a unique opportunity to connect with other teams and showcase the growing game of girls’ rugby. With the Wildcats Festival of Rugby, and the squad looking to attend similar events at other clubs in the future, the club is excited to play an important part in growing girls’ rugby throughout the country.
Director of Women’s and Girls’ Rugby at Watsonians, Emily Cotterill added:
“As Watsonian Wildcats continue to grow and thrive, we are thrilled to have some fantastic new sponsors on board for this season. Sunday is the first time that Watsonians have ever held an event for under 10 – under 14 girls. We’re buzzing to get everyone down and experience Watsonians hospitality. The support of sponsors is absolutely critical in the girls’ game, and we are incredibly grateful to have some fantastic names on board - Taylor’s Snacks will be at Myreside at the weekend to allow our players and opposition to enjoy some selected snacks.”
The club would like to encourage members and supporters to attend Myreside on Sunday 24th November to enjoy the next Girls' Evolution Series and help make the event a success.
