TEAM NEWS: 1XV to play Melrose

A return to action for the 1XV who travel to the Greenyards to play Melrose in the Scottish Cup Quarter Final.

There was a week off the domestic rugby calendar due to the 6 Nations, however, the 1XV are back in action with a mouth watering Scottish Cup Quarter Final tie against Melrose.

The injury list has been mounting over recent weeks, however, it is great to welcome back 1XV Skipper Craig Borthwick to the starting line-up. It looked as though 'Borth' was going to be out for the season, but credit to the big lad who has battled back from a knee injury and will lead the team out tomorrow.

Another shout out to Mark Bertram who will be playing his first match this season following a lengthy injury lay-off. Bertram has been working hard with our team of physios and S&C throughout his rehab and he will start on the wing.

We have a new look front row with Finn Hobbis, Cammy Fenton and Jack Stanley. Greg Jackson drops out through injury. Jamie Hodgson is with Edinburgh Rugby so as mentioned it is a timely return for Borth. This allows Charlie McKill to move to 6 accompanied by Ross Graham and Michael Fedo in back row.

Changes again in the back line with Ali Harris coming into the starting line-up after impressing off the bench against Accies. Ewan Fox starts at 10 with Lee Millar moving to 12.

On the bench Jonny Gibson could make his first appearance for the 1XV this season and youngster Chris Bell (pictured below) is in line to make his 1XV debut. Chris - a current pupil at Merchiston Castle - has been an outstanding performer in the 2XV throughout the season and is a very exciting prospect.

The players have prepared well over the last two weeks and we have been able to select an exciting looking squad for this crucial cup quarter. The Greenyards is a cracking venue and we look forward to testing ourselves against one of the top sides in the country.
