WFC are very sad to report that club treasurer Mike Crerar passed away on Sunday.

He will be sadly missed by all at the club given the phenomenal service he put in at Myreside for decades as a player, secretary and treasurer.

Many who have been attending 1st XV/Super6 matches on the stand pitch in recent times will also have got to know him as one of the friendly faces that greeted you at the gates, often along with wife Sheena and daughter Katherine.

Club president Euan Kennedy paid tribute, stating: “Mike was a former player, but also the backbone around which the club functioned. As treasurer he ensured that our finances were monitored under a microscope, but he still maintained a friendly supporting demeanour in all his dealings with the club.

“My thoughts and heartfelt condolences go to his family, wife Sheena and children Katherine and Gordon.”

The whole club echos Euan’s sentiments, Mike was the kind of person that every good club needs.

He never wanted individual plaudits, he just got on with his job diligently and effectively and had a great passion for everything that went on at WFC.
