Read about how the 1st XV got on at Kelso last Saturday...

Kelso scored 19 points in the last 10 minutes to make sure of a bonus point victory over the 1st XV on Saturday in Tennent’s National League Division One.

Until that point the match at Poynder Park was right in the mix at 19-17 to the home side before their late salvo.

The 1st XV went ahead through an unconverted try by Stuart Allison, but then they lost Guy Kelly to the sin bin and Kelso scored a try through Dwain Patterson.

The home side then went 12-5 ahead when Alex Thompson scored a try converted by Craig Dods.

Frankie Robson then bagged try number three, but a converted effort by Kresimir Coric for the 1st XV made it 19-12 at half-time.

The second half was tight before Wes Hirst was yellow carded for Kelso and Watsonians scored another five points through Coric.

The game was back in the balance, but Kelso hit another gear in the last 10 minutes.

Robson scored the fourth bonus point try while Andrew Thomson and Dods also crossed to see them home.

The 1st XV are seventh in the table with three matches to play and could still finish in the top five.

Remember the 1st XV take on Heriot’s at home this coming Saturday (3pm), get along and cheer them on
