The Watsonians Rugby squad have started where they left off in 2019/20 and have recorded two wins from two so far in the FORSOC Super6.
On Friday evening they will be looking to make it three wins from three in the 2021 campaign when they make the short trip across Colinton Road to take on the Boroughmuir Bears.
The Bears have won one and lost one to date and are always tough opponents ion their home turf, so Fergus Pringle's charges need as many away supporters there to cheer them on.
The match will also be the first leg of two to decide who wins The Allan McNish Memorial Trophy.
Traditionally fought for by the 1st XVs, both clubs agreed to play for it in the FOSROC Super6 in 2019/20. The winner of the trophy was determined by the aggregate score across two matches.
The Allan McNish Memorial Trophy was introduced by Allan’s family to mark the special connection between the clubs. He was a former Watsonians president who passed away in 1995.
Last time out Watsonians Rugby won the first leg 18-10 at Myreside in December 2019 and then, soon after in the same month, won the second leg 30-20 at Meggetland, giving them a 48-30 aggregate win which allowed Val McNish, Allan’s wife, to present the trophy to Captain Lee Millar.
