We are deeply saddened by the news that former 1st XV back-row player Clive Millar passed away yesterday, November 1st 2022, after a battle with cancer.

Clive made his debut for Watsonians on their tour of Devon in August 1982 after leaving George Watson's College that summer and joined his brothers Bruce (wing) and Keith (flanker), who also played at Myreside.

The farming brothers from Kelso and their extended family would often congregate in the clubhouse after games under the watchful eye of their father, George and mother, Sheena.

Clive made his debut for Edinburgh (player 872) in the inter-district championship v North & Midlands in November 1985.

In the 1998/1989 season, Clive joined Kelso and he went on to score the winning try against Ayr for Kelso at the Melrose 7s in April 1989.

Further success followed when Kelso won the Scottish League Championship in the 1989/1990 season. Clive also Captained Kelso when they won the Division 2 Championship in 1992. Clive went on to play over 160 times for the Borders outfit as well as playing for the South of Scotland.

Once his rugby playing days were over, Clive competed in triathlons and in 2018 he completed the Marathon de Sables with his daughter Holly and the Three Peaks Challenge in 2019.

Clive leaves behind his wife Hazel, daughters Holly and Brogan and son Cameron.

Everybody at Watsonians sends their condolences to Hazel and the family.

Funeral arrangements follow.
