WFC squads in sevens action...

Two men's sevens squads representing WFC had very useful work outs on Saturday.

With no competitive rugby at a club level having been played since March 2020, it was great to see players wearing maroon and white again.

At the Peebles Sevens at The Gytes, the 1st VII, pictured in the main photo, lost to Selkirk 31-5, but regrouped to defeat the Currie Chieftains 26-19 in a cracking tie.

It was not enough to see 'Sonians progress from Pool B, but it was a good first outing of 2021/22 and Mark Wilson, pictured with Head Coach Andrew Bell, was named the Watsonians Player of the Day.

In the end the Kings of the Sevens event was won by the Hearts & Balls Mighty Bovs who edged out Selkirk 12-7 in the final.

At the North Berwick Sevens at Recreation Park, the 2nd VII defeated Preston Lodge before losing to Musselburgh in round two, but it was a fine effort from a young squad.
